Best HomeKit Security Devices 2026: Systems, Cameras, Locks & Sensors for Apple Home

If you’ve invested in Apple’s ecosystem β€” iPhone, HomePod, Apple TV, Apple Watch β€” you want your home security to work with it natively. Apple HomeKit gives you encrypted, local control through the Home app, Siri, and powerful automations. But true HomeKit-compatible security devices are still surprisingly rare in 2026.

πŸ“– Related: See our complete HomeKit Home Security 2026 guide for the full state of Apple smart home security, Matter updates, and why only one security system supports HomeKit.

We’ve compiled every worthwhile HomeKit security device across five categories: security systems, cameras, locks, sensors, and doorbells β€” with pricing, compatibility notes, and what actually works well versus what’s technically “compatible” but barely functional.

Why HomeKit for Security?

FeatureHomeKitAlexa/Google
Data encryptionEnd-to-end encryptedCloud-processed
Local processingYes (via Home Hub)Mostly cloud
Video storageHomeKit Secure Video (iCloud)Vendor cloud (paid)
Voice controlSiri + Home appAlexa/Google Assistant
AutomationsLocation, time, sensor-triggeredSimilar + routines
Multi-userFamily Sharing (granular)Household (basic)
Remote accessRequires Home Hub (Apple TV/HomePod)Always cloud-connected

HomeKit’s biggest advantage is privacy. Camera footage processed locally, encrypted iCloud storage, and no third-party cloud servers seeing your home. For security devices specifically, that matters more than for a smart light bulb.

Best HomeKit Security System: Abode

FeatureDetail
SystemAbode Smart Security Kit
HomeKit supportNative β€” arm/disarm, sensor status, automations
Price$199 (kit with gateway, sensors, key fob)
Monthly$0 (free self-monitor) β€” $20/mo (pro monitoring)
ContractNone
Other platformsAlexa, Google, Z-Wave, Zigbee, IFTTT
Pro monitoringAvailable ($6–$20/mo)
CamerasAbode Cam 2 ($35)

Abode is the only major home security system with native Apple HomeKit support. Not through a bridge, not through Matter workarounds β€” native HomeKit integration that lets you:

  • Arm/disarm your system from the Home app or with Siri (“Hey Siri, set Abode to Away”)
  • See sensor status (door open/closed, motion detected) in the Home app
  • Create automations β€” arm when you leave, disarm when you arrive, turn on lights when motion detected
  • View cameras in the Home app with Abode Cam 2
  • Get notifications through Apple’s native notification system

No other security brand β€” not Ring, not SimpliSafe, not ADT, not Vivint β€” offers this. If HomeKit is important to you, Abode is effectively your only option for a complete security system.

Best HomeKit Security Cameras

CameraResolutionHomeKit Secure VideoPriceNotes
Abode Cam 21080pYes$35Only camera that’s part of a HomeKit security system
Logitech Circle View1080p HDRYes$160Best dedicated HomeKit camera β€” designed exclusively for HomeKit
Eve Cam1080pYes$100Privacy-focused, no cloud account needed
Eufy Indoor Cam S3504K (dual lens)Yes (via firmware)$130Best resolution, but Eufy has had privacy controversies
Aqara Camera Hub G32KYes$110Also acts as Zigbee hub β€” doubles as smart home controller

What Is HomeKit Secure Video?

HomeKit Secure Video (HSV) stores camera recordings in your iCloud account, end-to-end encrypted. Apple can’t see your footage, and it doesn’t count against your iCloud storage. Requirements:

  • iCloud+ plan ($2.99/mo for 1 camera, $9.99/mo for unlimited cameras)
  • Home Hub β€” Apple TV 4K or HomePod (analyzes video locally)
  • Compatible camera β€” from the list above

HSV gives you person/animal/vehicle/package detection processed entirely on your Home Hub β€” no cloud AI. It’s the most private camera storage option available.

Best HomeKit Smart Locks

LockHomeKitHome KeyAuto-UnlockPriceNotes
Aqara U200YesYesYes$230Best overall β€” Home Key support, retrofit design
Yale Assure Lock 2Yes (Matter)YesYes$250Premium build, multiple form factors
Level Lock+YesYesYes$329Invisible design β€” looks like a normal lock
Schlage Encode PlusYesYesNo$300Most durable, ANSI Grade 1
August Wi-Fi Smart LockYesNoYes$230Retrofit, works with existing key

Home Key lets you unlock your door by tapping your iPhone or Apple Watch β€” like Apple Pay for your front door. Only locks marked “Home Key: Yes” support this. All of these locks also work with Abode’s security system via Z-Wave or Zigbee, giving you both HomeKit control and security system integration.

Best HomeKit Door & Window Sensors

SensorProtocolBattery LifePriceNotes
Eve Door & WindowThread/Matter~1 year$40Best HomeKit sensor β€” Thread for fast response
Aqara Door & Window P2Thread/Matter~2 years$20Best value β€” requires Aqara hub or Thread border router
Onvis CS1 Contact SensorBluetooth/Thread~1 year$20Budget option with Thread support

These sensors show door/window status in the Home app and trigger automations. But note: standalone HomeKit sensors don’t call the police. For actual security monitoring, you need a system like Abode that connects sensors to professional monitoring. Abode’s own sensors appear in HomeKit when paired with the gateway.

Best HomeKit Motion Sensors

SensorProtocolDetectionPriceNotes
Eve MotionThread/MatterPIR (120Β°, 9m)$40IPX3 water-resistant β€” works outdoors
Aqara FP2Wi-FimmWave radar (presence)$60Detects stationary people β€” not just movement
Philips Hue MotionZigbee (Hue Bridge)PIR + lux$40Also measures light level for automations

The Aqara FP2 is special β€” it uses mmWave radar to detect presence, not just motion. It knows someone is sitting still in a room. Combined with Abode’s security system, you can create automations like: disarm when someone’s home, arm when every room is empty for 15 minutes.

HomeKit Video Doorbells

DoorbellResolutionHSVPowerPriceNotes
Logitech Circle View Doorbell1080p HDRYesWired$200Best HomeKit doorbell β€” head-to-head portrait view
Aqara Video Doorbell G41080pYesBattery or wired$120Only wireless HomeKit doorbell option
Eufy Video Doorbell E3402K (dual camera)LimitedWired$180Best resolution but HomeKit support inconsistent

Ring and Nest doorbells do not support HomeKit. If you want your doorbell in the Home app, these are your only real options.

For under $900 you get a complete HomeKit security setup with pro monitoring option, cameras, smart lock with Home Key, sensors, and everything controlled from your iPhone. The Abode monitoring plan adds $0–$20/mo with no contract.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Ring work with HomeKit?

No. Ring (owned by Amazon) does not support Apple HomeKit and has no announced plans to add it. Ring only works with Alexa. If you want HomeKit security, Abode is the primary option.

Does SimpliSafe work with HomeKit?

No. SimpliSafe has basic Alexa and Google integration but no HomeKit support.

What about Matter β€” doesn’t that fix HomeKit compatibility?

Matter is helping, but slowly. Most security systems haven’t adopted Matter yet, and Matter doesn’t currently support security system arm/disarm as a device category. Abode already has native HomeKit β€” no Matter bridge needed.

Do I need an Apple TV or HomePod for HomeKit security?

Yes β€” a Home Hub (Apple TV 4K or HomePod) is required for remote access, automations when you’re away, and HomeKit Secure Video recording. Without one, HomeKit only works when you’re on your home Wi-Fi.

Is HomeKit Secure Video worth it?

If you value privacy, absolutely. Footage is end-to-end encrypted, processed locally on your Home Hub, and stored in iCloud without counting against your storage. At $2.99/mo (iCloud+ 50GB) for one camera, it’s cheaper than most camera subscriptions.

Can I use Abode sensors in the Home app?

Yes. When the Abode gateway is paired with HomeKit, all connected sensors (door/window, motion, water leak) appear as accessories in the Home app. You can use them in automations alongside non-Abode HomeKit devices.

ADT charges $28-60/mo on 36-60 month contracts with professional install and Google Nest 4K cameras. 3-year cost: Frontpoint $1,260-2,300. ADT $1,107-2,959.
