About the Outdated OnDuty
Maybe they don’t mind their website feeling like 1999. OnDuty is primarily a commercial security system provider. As a residential customer you are more likely to go with a formal company such as ADT or Vivint.
They offer high end commercial fire systems (used by businesses, schools and large buildings). For security they have AC control, remote door locks and anything else a resident of Houston would ask for. Prices are obscure and hard to locate on their website. Be weary before going with them and do your research.

Growing up with Law and Order and CSI shows taught Isabelle Landau one thing: if people back then had high-quality home security systems, those series would have been way shorter. In our modern world, technology helps us keep burglars away easily, and this is what Izzy studies and writes about: alarm systems, home security, protection systems, and more.

I believe the looting only occurred at retail stores? I don’t think this would warrant a home-owner to seek security system to protect themselves or am I missing something?
I would get a security system though just because it is something that can save your life. I really like your website, what would you say is your hands down favorite secruity system?
Tucker says
Not a local of Houston, TX but my mother is living there. I believe she has a security system installed through The Security Store and she said she feels safe. I am glad you included them on this list, thanks so much for sharing and helping others stay protected in this day and age.
All the best.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who felt that OnDuty needed to get with the times (website wise)! However, I’m a fan of security systems that are true and tested and are able to withstand the test of time. ADT or Vivint are going to get my money. I would say if they don’t have the ability to upgrade their website in 2017 what can you say abou their security system technology?
Chris T. says
I’m located in the Manvel area and would attest to the dangerous amounts of people left homeless and severe damage. I am looking into getting myself a new system in place. Thanks for this comprehensive list, I will have to check out Fort Knox Security System. $15.95/mo is not a bad price when comparable security systems can start at $100+.
Amanda Joy says
The looting that occurred in Houston after Hurricane Harvey was bad. I would say it would be on the safe side to have some sort of home security in place, even more so, after a natural disaster like this where people can get desperate. I would recommend a trusted security system that has been around for a while. Do your own due diligence! Cheers.
