Night Owl’s reference kit advertises 4K cameras, an 80-degree field of view, and night vision up to 100 feet. Those are product-page specifications, not proof that a face, package, vehicle, or action will be useful at the intended mount. Google Nest model specifications also vary. Test the actual lens, height, distance, light, backlight, rain, compression, recording start, and network conditions.
Walk each approach at ordinary speed by day and in the lowest expected light. Record the first useful frame, motion blur, exposure, blocked view, audio, alert delay, missed event, false event, playback quality, and downloaded-file quality. Keep views lawful and avoid capturing more of a neighbor’s property or public space than the security job requires.
