On July 28 hey Mr. Brett Harris came up to my boyfriends house while we were sitting outside and throw his sales pitch to us however we weren’t interested and Mr. Harris went on to ask me what my name was which I told him and never watched ask my boyfriend his name , then went on to ask me for my social security number which I refused to give him because I wasn’t the home owner, my boyfriend was! Something didn’t sit right with me, so after he left, I went to check my credit and found out that he did a credit check on me and I ask myself how did he do this when I didn’t give him my SS number, and he didn’t bother to check my boyfriends credit and he’s the home owner! So I called Mr. Brett Harris back the next day because it was late and when I did call, he lied about it at first and then went on to say don’t worry, it’s a soft inquiry when clearly it was a hard inquiry! So I told him that I would reaching out to the BBB and the Federal Trades commissioner, also consumer affairs! , Today is the 5th of September and I received a call from amp smart stating that they had my initials on file where I agreed to have him check it. Then I proceeded to ask for them to send me a photo copy of my signature because I did not initial anything and I was told that they was not allowed to do that. So now they leave me no other choice but to take them to court! Please run and don’t do business with them!

The company and the sales reps misrepresent themselves. Nick came to my door early June stating they were in the neighborhood with another install and was told by his supervisor to stop by my house because I had a ADT sign on my lawn. I said I wasn’t interested. He went on to sale me on the touch screen panel which I didn’t have from ADT and all of the equipment including warranty and install would be free. He wrote it all down. We went over the contract and also confirmed everything over the phone with a CSR. I was told my monthly payment would be $29.99 from $52.99 which I paid ADT and they would pay the remainder of my contract off. I was also told I would make 2 payments of $34.01 to Green Sky and this charge was for the sales rep and the installers time or I could pay the full $68.02 to Green Sky. I received my bill from Green Sky for $2040.00 for the equipment that was suppose to be free. I contacted them, explained what I was told and the sheet of paper showing everything was free. I was then told I needed to contact AMP Smart. I contacted the sales rep Nick who stated to me via text he would contact me the next day at 2:30. I never received that phone call from Nick. I then contacted Amp Smart via imternet Chat with Kiarra. I asked her to check the recording of the call confirming the agreement and monthly amount. She told me I would be making 2 payments. One payment to Amp Smart and the other to Green Sky until the equipment was paid off. This is not what I agreed to and not what the CSR stated on his call. I still never heard back from Nick until I texted him again. He proceeded to state to me in the text he did call me but I didn’t answer. He lied. I didn’t receive a call from him (no missed call on my phone) nor did he leave a message. I would think if your customer has an issue you would call them and leave a message if there was no answer. That is good customer service. I should know, I have worked in this area my entire life. When he did call back he tells me I misunderstood. He tried to explain which was a bowl of lies as he told me they were different from ADT who doesn’t tell their customers what they are truly receiving for upfront costs. I told him exactly what we talked about when he approached my door. I asked him several times while at my house to confirm what he was saying was correct and true. He stated yes. The equipment, install and warranty are free. During our call he says, “Yes, the equipment is free but, you must have misunderstood the cost”. I didn’t misunderstand anything “You misrepresented yourself and came to my door with false pretenses. ADT told me upfront what I would be paying so I knew what my contract was”. “I would have never agreed to a monthly payment of $64 with the purchase of new equipment when I was already paying $53.00 to ADT and almost done with my contract. I should have gone with my gut feeling but decreasing a bill was my first thought. Oh, and he stated they would pay the remainder of my contract with ADT off. Needless to say I told Nick he lied and disconnected the call. I still haven’t heard from Amp Smart for them to come get their equipment out of my house. They won’t reinstall my panel from ADT, I have to call to have it installed paying an installation fee.
Be AWARE of this company. They are very DISHONEST and DIRTY

STAY AWAY. We had a sales rep come to the house in October of 2018. I was very upfront and clear that I had just gotten out of the military and would be selling and moving to the NH/ME area. The rep guaranteed us the system could stay with the house and we could get a whole new system at our new house at no cost, just an activation fee and that the area would be serviced. We ended up switching from ADT. I started calling about canceling on the 8th of July. Now we can’t get a free system and the area we moved to, Maine, isn’t even serviced by the company. At first they wanted to charge the full cancellation fee of $1850 and they just tried to get us to pay a reduced fee of $1200. I’ve been calling over the past few weeks trying to get them to remove the system and keep telling them I will no longer have posession as of the 30th. We feel scammed and that we were taken advantage of and definitely lied too. The company has told us multiple times they dont service the area so why should we pay a cancellation fee. Don’t ever use them, please!

Where to start? They don’t initially tell you that they run your credit or your spouses. They merely ask you the names of the adults that reside in the home. Some people recommend reading the contract which is difficult to do when it’s not handed to you until the moment of install and it’s electronic. So when you tell them you gave them zero permission to run credit they say you agreed when you signed although it’s after the fact. Monthly fees are expensive. If you have a power failure you can’t completely count of everything working the same. When it’s time for someone to come out they tell you the rep is in another area and there is no one nearby monitoring your area so your wait time is weeks. I was promised a lot by the rep and the company has done nothing. They have a ton of BBB complaints. Good luck with getting them to respond to them. Run if they come to your home. I’m almost afraid of how they will react in case of an emergency. By the way, my smart bulb defaulted and I called the company on a Sunday. I had to leave a message which two days later no one responded to. Yeah, huge regret!

I would give less if possible. Sales guy was slimmy and scam artist. He told us we would get 3K worth of FREE equipment. After everything was installed they tried to make us sign an INTEREST FREE payment agreement. We told them it is not what we agreed to and that they could tale everything & leave. Installation guy called his office and it spunded like we we’re not the first to have this problem that day. He would not take equipment down and said sales rep would call us back. He randomly showed up the following day. I politely informed him that what he sold us on was not what we received & that it was a Sunday to please leave our family at peace and take the equipment. He did not leave and used pressure sales tactics. After my husband had to firmly tell him to leave he did.
Furthermore, the equipment is sub par. It is slow when you try to access it from your phone and most of the time the door bell camera does not connect. As soon as electricityor internet goes down you have zero security. In FL during hurricane season that is not good…. we know this because it has been a month and no one has returned our phone call to return the equipment. Would NEVER recommend – in fact I am sure to mention to avoid it to anyone I hear looking for security.

Yes I fell into that trap also and they told me they would pay off the company I was using at the time. I have called my sales rep a few times and left messages and never got a return call. I called the office and all they could say was sorry about that. When I ask when I could expect to get my check to pay the other company they told me about 2 weeks by that time there will be another charge from the other company I will be stuck with. They are charging me about $20 more a month than I was paying before. When you’re on a fixed income that is not good. I am going to contact BBB and see what I can do. They sure talk the big talk but when its time to do the walk they are over it.. Worse mistake I have made.

We got off to a somewhat rocky start with this system, but I like the pluses even though the monitoring is more expensive. I get alerts on my cell phone–even one today to let me know my power had been out and was now restored. The company did the right thing in crediting charges to my account for the disappointing experiences I had, but that last tech said something that this company needs to note: “IF I had installed this system, it would have been done right and you would not have had so many problems”. Our problems were sensors going offline–and it turned out it was because the antenna was not insgtalled properly! Another down side the 60-month contract was NOT stated before I signed anything.

Yes the door to door AMP sale rep are persistent and definitely try to convince you that their security system is free and how your location is the perfect marketing home to put up their new sign because mine is old and outdated. They will creep you out with their line of questioning about your existing security measures. After 2 hours of conversation I was able to get him out of my home. The FREE security system was REALLY a ploy to sign me up to a 60 month contract with 1-3 of options depending on what type of monitoring services and equipment installed which by the way is not Honeywell but GE. Their monthly cost starts at 60.99 and goes up depending on services. Glad I was able to see through their smoke screen and sent the sales rep on his way. Beware of the word FREE and don’t sign anything or give your personal information. I’m currently an ADT customer paying much less but looking into installing a self monitoring system which is why I was willing to listen to the sales pitch.

I received one of their staff just this morning and I was surprised when I was asking him certain things about their service but he said some things sketchy I wasn’t really sure to get it at the moment and decided on making some research. So here I and from what I can see, it’s a no go.

I signed up 24 months ago for a 60 month contract, and paid the $1250 early termination to get out of it. The system rarely worked and I moved to a place I didn’t need it.
Despite this, I’m still getting hit with the $49.99 charge monthly, and while they tell me I’ll be refunded my money it hasn’t happened. I’m also told monthly that my account won’t be billed any more, but then the $49.99 comes out. I have alerted my bank this is now a fraudulent charge and am considering legal action against them.

I may be one of the few who had a good experience, but I had a good and honest sales rep and an installation tech who had been with the company for 4 years so he knew what he was doing.
I had a security guy from AMP Security/Guardian coming through the neighborhood. He was wearing an orange vest, stands back from the door, and had his name tags on.
I actually spoke with him for some time and ended up cancelling my current service with Maximum Secuirty, which I have been very happy with, and starting service with AMP/Guardian.
Reasons why include the upgraded equipment, 4g service, home automation, and pricing. Ill detail below:
equipment: got a camera doorbell (like ring), they used my old security motion sensors and door sensors, a door lock with small key pad code and cell connectivity to the app, a much better key pad (ipad mini) and smart thermostat (like nest).
4g service: 4g is always connected, old system wasnt.
Automation: Can connect a variety of devices to the panel since its an ipad mini, they offer smart bulbs, echo dot, all kinds of stuff to automate. Of course the more you get the more you pay for. All of the system can be done through your phone app and this was all stuff i had been wanting to do anyway so it was convenient timing.
Pricing: of course the more you get from them the more you are going to pay. I ended up only paying $10 more a month than my previous contract.
So what was the catch? You do have to commit to a 5 year contract and pass a credit check of course. If you buy a lot youre also going to pay more but if you have a system already itll be much cheaper. Also if you want free install you have to be available anytime between 10am-9pm in the 3 days following the sale. I am not lying when i say he put the code in to get me the date time of when the install would take place and 20 minutes later and the guy is here installing all equipment.
I think you can probably negotiate with the guy too. I asked him about commissions and he is very transparent. Guy is very friendly, no pressure in my opinion but I know all sales guys are different. Mine had been with the company for 2 years and was friendly.

My 82 year old dad switched to AMP from ADT in August of this year. I did not learn of this until the new system was installed. Other than the beautiful security panel that was installed, I couldn’t be more upset at him for switching providers. To begin with, they did not cancel his service with ADT as promised and he got stuck paying for an additional month of service from a company that no longer monitored his home. The sales rep told my father that the panel could be programmed in Spanish, but when the installer showed up he did not know how to do it and simply told my father that it wasn’t an available option.
In addition, the sales rep told my father that the monthly fee would be debited from his checking account, but it was never set up correctly and my father received a paper bill that included a $2 fee for not paying electronically. I placed a call to customer service and this was corrected.
Our second call to customer service was to see if the panel could be programmed in Spanish (AS PROMISED). A service tech was sent out to update the panel’s firmware and they eventually programmed it in Spanish as promised. One step forward and two steps back later, we realized that the service tech who updated the firmware, accidentally mis-identified the points of entry/exit. Every time we set the alarm and tried exiting the house, the alarm would go off. Another call to customer service and we figured out that the kitchen door, which should have been programmed for a delayed exit, was labeled as a back door and vice versa.
This all lead to my father apparently setting off the panic alarm in error and now he has been presented with a FIFTY DOLLAR fine from his city for a false alarm.
The only “pleasant” experience has been the billing department employee who sympathized with my annoyance and provided a credit for the next month’s billing cycle, which offsets about 2/3 of the fine. I couldn’t be upset with her, as she was polite and only doing her job. I am, however, upset with the lack of professionalism from this company and the misleading business practices. As others have posted, they represent themselves as AMP, but the system/billing is monitored and handled by Guardian, which was not made clear.

Hi Ileana. Frustrating for sure! This is a common practice to ‘prey’ upon the elderly in any door to door company. Many of them push medical pendants really hard on widows and widowers and then when the kids hear of it they have the same feelings as you do. While we are not affiliated with AMP we are just reminding users reading this review that it is primarily a concern with the rep who sold the account more than the company themselves. Hope you are able to work things out with an AMP rep.

I had two guys come to my door. They started off by saying how my sign was old and how a robber would feed off an old system. Then asked how much I paid and said that could add so much and it wouldn’t cost me anymore. I brought up the possibility of moving and they said that would be free to move the system. I also said that I never have to pay for a tech to come out if we had issues and they said that’s within my price I wouldn’t either. This is all INCORRECT. There is no age to a sign, my system was not outdated, they charge a minimum of $99 to move and that would be removing all equipment and leaving holes or could be free but I would have to resign another long contract, when I did have issues it was a service charge of $25 to come out. I also left one weekend and came home to my system beeping but I was never called regarding to a possible issue. It cost me $1250 to cancel my account but I would rather do that than give them over 3k in payments until the end of my contract and all the extra for moving the system and fixing it when needed. I regret ever leaving ADT. ….. I wrote this review while being on hold as they processed my request. They came back and said that he started the process and it will cancel once the funds went through. I have already received an email from my bank regarding the charges but he said it won’t cancel till they get notified. He also said there was a pending payment from the 20th (which it is the 30th today and my bank showed a withdrawal on the 20th) and I will be charged that $61 monthly charge and the $1250 for canceling. They can’t even pro-rate me for my mid of the month canceling and my system not working correctly. The man ended up hanging up on me. They love to take your money but can’t give you a system that works and honest employees.

so I guess I’ve become a statistic for this company. My encounter with this company is as follows they knock on my door late afternoon I was at work my wife told him I was at work and might come home late but that we wasn’t interested bcuz we just bought the Home and wasn’t ready for that yet, he then said OK I’ll try back later when he gets home, again she told him he might get home late, he told her OK no problem. Sure enough as I arrive home here he comes up the street up my driveway and knocks on my door, it’s about 6pm now I’ve been away from home since 430am bcuz iam a truck driver, so he preceded to knock I open and he is coming off as a well respected young man and he proceeded to explain this product, I allowed him to finish and then told him look not right now we just bought the Home maybe at a later time but then he persisted and now iam standing in my front door way trying to end this until he asked me for some water bcuz he forgot his wallet and hasn’t drank anything for hours bcuz he’s been out there all day going door to door, iam extremely exhausted now were on hour 3 he insisted it will cost me nothing bcuz my home was chosen bcuz of were it sat at in the corner which was prime for them so that others around me would see the signs to promote they’re company, I then told him look let me find out how much iam going to save with my homeowners insurance have this alarm system and I will get back to him, his response was on I’ll sign you up once you speak to your agent and if you are going to save some money to offset the cost of this system call me back I’m put your account on hold you won’t get charged anything but I’ll need your credit card number so that he can hold the promotion of everything installed free and the system. I said ok he had a tablet I have him my card and he assured me it will be on hold until I met with my insurance agent. At this point my family and I haven’t had or dinner yet it’s almost 9pm by the time the installers and him was done, Now! When I met my insurance agent he told me there is no big difference in my policy having an alarm system installed not even close enough to offset the cost to afford the monthly payments. So I called him back he tells me to call customer service and they will set up for the system to be removed, well now according the service department that wasn’t going to happen bcuz I signed a contract and it will cost me $1800 to cancel and until I pay that they won’t remove the system out my home, I was extremely frustrated so now iam arguing with a manager about them removing this system but he refused to until I payed that cancellation fee, so I asked him to send need the documents that I signed, so I get in the mail a document with three different signatures in which neither matches mines! So that young man forged my signature to make the commission, and now this company is forcing me to have those system in my home and I can’t get them to remove it. My wife had been suffering anxiety attacks over this and now iam forced to pay for legal counsel over this and I can’t afford it right now. There are scamming people forcing people to keep this system until they pay the fee like if your being hell hostage for ransom. Worst experience of my life and a horrible nightmare third company has caused me and my family.

First off, I can’t believe how many complaints, I should’ve checked before I signed up with this company. So I’ve had this security for 1 1/2 years now. Almost a year ago, we moved to a new home. They moved the equipment and installed it for us (for $199!!). I’ve been paying $55.99/month. So we go on vacation, and we get a phone call and text that one of our upstairs alarms went off. Here we are freaking out that someone broke into our home. After talking to them, it was revealed they STILL had our OLD ADDRESS and dispatched the police to our old home!!! Not only that, they couldn’t send anyone out to our current home because it wasn’t on file. AND, the police was never sent (because I called over to the old house and the police was NEVER there). Are you freaking kidding me??? I was told that I had to contact the billing department to change my address. WTH?! Then, I’ve had several conversations with that department, and “supervisors” about this whole issue. They’ve emailed a DocuSign for me to sign…which had several mistakes on it (our address, name, phone number, password). They claimed they would give me a year of free service to compensate me. Have I received any other documents confirming this or anything else? NO. They keep claiming they will contact the person who was supposed to send the document to me and send it again, but here we are, still waiting. Its an email…shouldn’t take but a few minutes. I told them today that they have lost my trust, that you can’t just update the information and give me free service and call it good. I want out of this ridiculous contract, in which they said I would have to pay the cancellation fees to do that. I’m over it. I told the supervisor today I wanted to speak to her boss, whom she says is on the phone and will contact me in 24-48 hours. Right. I’m done. AMP Security is about to get a ton of bad reviews, including BBB

I went with AMP after a co-worker said the company was good. My doorbell cam has not worked and after calling and taking a week to come and fix it only for it to work for 1 hour. Then the doorbell cam works off and on . So i am unable to monitor who is at my door and stuff. I am paying for equipment that is defective. When I called to cancel they tell me it will cost $1,250 to cancel. Or transfer it to a neighbor or family. I replied why would I transfer faulty equipment to family or friend. They don’t care about customer satisfaction. They are just after your money. They said the amount is in the documentation section 2 which I honestly do not remember getting but I will ho back and read it now that they claim it cost that much to cancel.

Stay Away from this company they will rip you off! They lie. They will do and say anything to get you locked into their contract. My system does not work and I have only had it 3 months. The door bell is broken the camera doesn’t work half the time and my light bulbs keep burning out. They will buy out your contract but charge you for the trial period even though they say that you won’t get charged until they make their decision. I talked to them almost every other day just to make sure I wasn’t getting charged and then received a big bill in the mail. Their customer service is rude and horrible and after the trial period ended they say that it is in the contract. Please people slam the door in their faces if you see a AMP sales person or guardian protection. They will steal your money and leave you with a horrible system. If it looks to good to be true then it is.

As with any door to door industry, there are good reps and bad reps. That can go for anything. I am an employee of a door to door security company and would never employ any unethical sales tactics. I do this job because I love helping people. I’ve helped protect famlies who really need it. I’m always up front with the customer and respectful of their boundaries. However, even with unethical and pushy sales reps, you still have to complete the set-up call before anything is installed or any transaction occurs. The setup call goes something like, “Am I speaking with ‘name’? are you the homeowner? Sales rep has set you up on a 60 month agreement, is that your understanding as well? Sales rep Is setting you up with 3 door sensors, a camera etc. correct? Your monthly monitoring rate will be 60.99$ is that your understanding as well? Your activation of 199.99$ will be paid upon installation, is that your understanding as well?” It is very direct and straightforward. The thing is, most security companies if not all require a similar setup call! If you managed to make it through this call without fully understanding what all your agreement entails, then you are either completely stupid or you did not pay attention AT ALL during this call. It honestly baffles me to see so many people claiming to have been screwed, scammed or lied to by AMPSmart or Vivint or any other reputable security company. My question to you people who claim the sales rep lied to you: where were you during the set-up call??! Even if the sales rep lied to you or gave you inaccurate information, you still have to sign the agreement AND verbally respond YES to all the questions in the setup call regarding contract length, activation amount, equipment list, payment method, and more. On top of that, you have to do ANOTHER Q&A with the company over the phone AFTER the system is installed to make sure you got everything you were promised. Is there something I’m missing? Also, 1800$ isn’t bad for an early cancellation fee. Some of these systems are thousands of dollars! If you could cancel after a month of using the system, the company would be losing thousands of dollars on you.

They get our billing wrong every single month .If you want multiple problems with customer service, then I would avoid this wonderful system.

First, I NEVER had anyone ever in the entire process say I had a 60 mo contract with a$1250 cancellation fee. I DID have a salesman tell me that the equipment was free and that I would, MYCH MUCH MUCH later into this 3.5 hour transaction that the internet service or sorts was going to be $60, but in two years ‘most have that cut in half.’ I asked why most and why? Reply? Well we have this company that helps us as a newer start up fund our equipment and costs so they invest in AMP and this initially is a cash flow into the company. Good customers get this $60 cut in half in about two years.
Another hour later I’m on the phone with GreenSky learning they are a finance company and I’m paying them $44. Great not $60 but after the call I find out I also am paying AMP $40! That’s $84!!! Long way from $60 and a finance company ?? For what? And where’s the paperwork? I have still not ever received any paperwork. Have no idea of any of this cancellation other than what I read online. I signed a blank tablet screen with an explanation from a salesman and a vague yellow form that that he x’d through telling me I wasn’t paying those high prices for all that equipment. He slipped it inside this fancy cardboard folder from AMP with pretty people pictures and sales hype.
Back to the salesman Boone and his explaining away $84 to $60. ‘Wellll…you’ll end up actually only paying that AFTER , you save on your AC and heating bill with the auto thermostat. (I already had one so NOPE!! Zero) and you’ll get s $20 discount on your home insurance. (Nope! More like $3. I already had received all the discounts I could get so $3 was all I could squeeze out of them per year.) so we are down to $81. Not $60!!!!! And not FREE!!!! And not free of a contract or finance company. And what’s this if I move? I was asked if I was going to move. I said I didn’t have plans but who knows. Why? Boone said I could take it or leave in the home. They just lose a lot of money so really don’t like to give so much in FREE equipment away. Ha!!! No mention I was locked into a contract. That would have been the time to come clean. So no I was SCAMMED. OR at least I think I have been. I still have to get my hands in whatever I must have signed.

Stick with a self monitored system, the last thing you need is glorified speed dial for the police. Besides, the most valuable part of any alarm is that annoying beep. But it will tell you if someone broke in and scare the intruder. Like any other company, Amp just wants your money.

Could you give more insight on this? Don’t want to lead consumers looking to buy the wrong way, $18,000 does seem way to much. She would’ve had to get enough equipment to secure a castle for that to be a charge. $1800 sounds more normal and there are early cancellation fees with several companies (AMP being one of them) for users trying to get out of service before the time is up.

They do a recorded call to check with corporate verifing everything he said was correct and making sure I knew what was going on. The call is straightforward so I knew exactly what I was getting into. Great experience.

I just found out that AMP transferred the monitoring of my system to a 3rd party other that Guardian. They were slow in getting my contract changed from ADT to AMP. Due to the delay, I was doubled billed from ADT and AMP. Now I have to spend my free time with customer service reps from both companies to get my account straightened out. If you see these fast talking sales representatives in your neighborhood, cross the street or close the door.

My husband and I had been talking about getting a security system, but just never got around to it. ERIKA FIGUEROA stopped by our house 6/10/17 and offered us a wireless system & even a doorbell camera (for free!!!) for our home if we agreed to keep a sign out for advertisement. My husband is an IT guy and said the SMART PANEL we got is unlike anything other companies offer. For everything we received, price to keep it connected is VERY afforadable. If you live in the Tacoma area, contact Erika from AMP SMART. She was very personable, knowledgeable, and even came by the next day after having it installed to make sure we didn’t have any questions. Great experience!

Had a great experience with AMP Smart. I spent many years with ADT and kept having unexpected, unannounced rising prices. I ran into Amp’s Kyle while walking my dog in my neighborhood, after he had respected my no solicitation sign and had not come to my house. After discussing the AMP plan, I ended up getting a great deal on a great system to upgrade my older system. The installation was done the SAME DAY and the tech Anthony took his time, knew what he was doing, and did a great job.
The complaints I have read on this page were all moot points for me. Make sure and ask questions whenever someone wants to sell you recurring services. Of course they want to lock you in to a contract, so do all the others. You need to ask the question “for how long”, “does it auto renew”, and “for what term does it auto renew”. Of course you will pay something for the equipment, installation, and monthly fee; no one is going to give you everything for free. I never felt I was being highly pressured, and would not have done it if I did feel pressured. Always read the contract before you sign it, and if for some reason you cant you have 3 business days afterwards to read it. Nothing sketchy here for me, just a great customer experience and similar to what I have seen with other companies.

Salesmen told me to just try it out so after talking for a while I though it sounded like a low risk because when I asked about early cancelation he told me the cost but that was only if I didn’t return the system after I canceled so I said no problem with that if I canceled I didn’t want it for anything. So I asked if I can just cancel and return the stuff and not get charged how dose that work on their end and he told me most people that get it end up keeping it so it was not much of an issue. so trusting old me signed his paper and after just two and a half months it breaks even though I barely used it. so I call up to cancel and guess what. all that stuff he told me about the cancelation fee being waved if I returned the system was total BS and they couldn’t get ahold of them so I get screwed. word to the wise if you see them coming don’t even let them speak just shut the door in their face, better not even answer the door

Had a connection problem with my transmitter (Honeywell) . Call repairs and technical was out the following week. Customer service had recently stated the last week that all fees was waved because I never had any complaints. When doing my banking i noticed the had deducted the 25.00 dollars service fee without my approved. Once someone steals I am finished. Can’t wait for end of contract. Then I was told by customer service to send proof and the will try to refund money.

I felt threatened by a person that 1. looks sloppy, 2.calls me by name and the first thing he asks is “Do you know your neighbor’s name”? and then 3. Gets real “pushy and threatening” when I tell him, I’m not interested”! ( I already have an alarm system and a sign on my door stating “NO Solicitation”)! I am a soft touch and signed up for service, but never figured out to use it, I just tolerated the little chime whenever my doors were opened. One of the convincing aspects was that free installation would be offered if I moved after having the system one year. Btw. Do your research because ADT and slimplisafe and all these other companies don’t do it through phone lines anymore as times have changed and that it there “big” selling point. I would rather go for a company that is A+ on BBB then a C. I was to be on account too and when I tried to cancel they told me my fiance had to do that and that I couldn’t. That was not mentioned until she put me on hold to contact the sales rep and got back on the phone. If you talk to them they will stay for hours and they will come back daily! I had plans to go to the store and I didn’t get to go until 3 am in the morning. (THEY WORK LONG HOURS)

Sales Rep came out to my home Monday afternoon. Seemed very sketchy. I allowed him to pitch his sell. However I did not give in to it. He was very push and like I said very sketchy. Asking weird questions like “where do my dogs sleep?” About what time do my family leave the house unattended?” Wanted to check out my doors and windows. Asking about some electronics that were out on the table. “Who’s tablet is that he asked” I immediately felt uncomfortable and asked him to leave. I wrote his company to complain and to report his unusual lines of questions. I did inform him my boxers sleep where ever in the home and if anyone comes in they won’t leave without something getting bitten off.

I remember reading about companies doing this and it was a way for them to work under multiple business alliances. So AMP is or should be owned by Guardian Security. I am not sure if this is the case for them or not but that is what I know about it. I was considered AMP until I heard about this myself.

They are an authorized dealer for the ‘Parent’ company, Guardian. Many home security companies work this way. ADT – Monitronics for example and Vivint is a possibility down the road. Dealers (such as AMP) then don’t have to provide the monitoring service, deal with customer support (after their initial 3-6 months depending on agreement with company). They focus on the marketing and installation of the security system and then sell the contract at a 36-52x multiple of the monthly monitoring rate. Win/win situation except for customers that don’t understand their monitoring isn’t through the original brand they signed up with.

Glad to be able to tell by above comments that they actually do provide some service (even though it’s one no-one should buy) as I was concerned he was a scout for a bugler gang.
Signing a contract with a door to door sales rep is the equivalent of giving your CC # to someone who calls YOU on the phone (not the other you way around) – NEVER ever sign contacts at the doorstep or even let those folks into your house. They will confuse you and talk until you either give in and sign or you get mad and kick them out. The result us never a good experience.

Good point and validation. There are several door to door scammers out there but AMP doesn’t fall into that range… That being said, some of their reps (like Vivint or any other door to door company) may and will lie to get a sale and that is essentially out of their hands. It is up to the customer to read over the agreement, understand your rights and not feel pressured to do a ‘same day’ installation.

A rep went through our neighborhood taking pictures of our houses yesterday! When asked why, he said it was to ping his location for the houses he stopped at. The nonemergency police were called apparently 3 times because there’s a no soliciting sign at the entrance. The police told him to leave & he came back. Neighbors report he had a mouth on him when they told him no soliciting & to leave. He left a brochure with us with his name & address on it, so I’m going to hang onto it in the event something shady happens.

That’s good information Dessie. At $500-900 per a sale, these guys will do nearly anything. Door knocking in ‘No Soliciting’ areas is actually taught and referred to as ‘easy sales’ because these doors are ‘hit up’ less than others. ABC did an investigation on this as well with a different door to door company. I’m sure he is not causing any harm, just being an eager sales rep trying to earn the big bucks during summer months.

I had a rep come to my house. After listening to his sales pitch I told him I would think about it over the weekend. However I had decided not to purchase when he returned on Monday. Of course he didn’t like the fact that I wasn’t going to buy and said we will just let a neighbor have it for free. I said that’s ok. But what makes me so mad I found they had run a credit report on me. I’m thinking about contacting an attorney because NO ONE gave them permission to do that. So glad I didn’t sign anything with them.

Hey Anne., based on an app that several door to door companies use, they can run a credit report fairly easily with just your name and address. Lots of reps will run ‘qualification’ checks because in order to get a security system most users have to pass a 600 credit score. They should let you know they are doing it and the rep is in the wrong here, however contacting attorney is a bit extreme as they are usually soft credit checks and will be wiped off soon. For anyone looking to get an Alarm System they should always find a local professional installation company, one that you can check with your local BBB, Current clients of theirs and make sure that they are Licensed, Bonded and Insured in your state, also make sure that an tech that comes to your home or business are Licensed and bonded to install the system. Mass marketing companies with Dealer Programs who use UN-registered and UN-licensed people who are not in business in your state. All Mass Marketing Companies try to get by with letting them use their state license numbers which is most always against code for most states.

Agreed, they are taught to (and always should) notify the person that a credit check is being inquired of them. Sadly most reps (regardless of company) don’t because that can take away from the sale. They get a quick notification of ‘pass or fail’ and it can save them time in wondering whether a potential prospect can even qualify for a security system. That is just to give you insight from their point of view; not justifying a hidden credit check.

An AMP rep came to my door this evening and basically tried to force me to sign up with the company. He was very pushy I refused I told him I have a no soliciting sign and that it is there for a reason, and that if I wanted to purchase any equipment from a security company that I know how to find one myself. Very unprofessional, tried to use scare tactics to get me to sign up by saying someone could easily cut my lines and render my security system useless. We had an exchange of words and he left.

Sorry to hear that Meredith. However, this isn’t a reflection of AMP the company. Vivint has very agressive sales reps as well but tend to keep a good online reputation. Because reps are strongly influenced by commission, they tend to get a bit pushy. Always remember your rights as a homeowner and the word ‘no’.

Funny you should mention this. My wife had the same thing happen to her while I was at worth. The sale’s rep tried to scare her in to thinking we needed a system. Pulled out all these BS stats on crime rates and stuff in the area. We hardly have any issues around here. Good thing I got home before she signed the paper, God love her. She is easily talked into things when someone scares her. I tore into the dude so they will never send someone here again. Very rude, I was not happy.

My experience with this company has been a nightmare. They repeatedly didn’t fix problems that I had, I just stopped using the system altogether and kept paying them because I was in a contract. After 3 years I told them I wanted to cancel service. They said I didn’t tell them and I have to keep the contract FOR ANOTHER YEAR! I owe them, they say, $277.00 so far, for service that I haven’t used. I will not pay it! I rue the day I ever got mixed up with this company.

Bait and switch! They came up saying that I was a great promotional home since I’m located on a corner lot. They then told me that for marketing purposes they would give me a free system as long as I keep the sign visible and have it replaced if it is damaged or stolen. After about 2.5 hours they wanted $100 for installation and $55/month for service!
Not only is that way overpriced, I had already told the guy, “look this is cool but if it cost me ANYTHING, I’m out.” I’m not sure what part of anything he didn’t understand. O well, now I know a lot about security systems.

I have many complaints about AMP Security! Number one, the sales agent was very forceful and deceitful with providing adequate information (cancellation policies)! He guaranteed that I would be able to do so within 3 days without specifying Saturday as a business day! I was mislead and suckered into getting the system!
Number two, after speaking with various Customer Service Representatives;none of them were able to assist me! I had to continue to call requesting to speak with a supervisor! After many more attempts I finally spoke with a supervisor. She promised me that she would take care of this matter without having to pay more monthly fees! That was fraudulent! I am at $202.56 in the rear just because she waited weeks before a response at which I had to call to get feedback!
They are constantly calling asking for payment when they have not meet their obligations! I have made arrangements to make payment but feel swindled out of money and time! I could have stayed with my previous provider for much less!

AMP brochures looks beautiful. The sales rep is smooth as silk. Do you think you are going to get that nice equipment, you are very much mistaken. You will not get that equipment, you will get some cheap equipment that they will say you had (Existing) all along and they were trying to save you money or something after they have assessed you and your neighborhood to be not worthy of their top grade equipment.
Nevertheless, you will not get the nice Honeywell equipment or enough sensors for every window. You have been duped into a five year contract with a less than efficient system or an inadequate AMP Security System. This company needs to go bust with their trickery ethics. Please don’t sign on the line.

AMP Security sales person will show you a brochure filled with Honeywell equipment that they will install in your home. Not every piece of equipment is Honeywell. They will switch it and install GE equipment. The wireless smoke/heat sensor is not Honeywell, it is GE and can not be connected to the panel. My two door/window sensors that were initially installed are GE. These people will do a bait and switch on you. By accident, I discovered after the AMP rep came and did not recognize the equipment that they installed years earlier. Later, he said it was GE equipment that must have been in the house before. I never had a security system before. On the contract, it is listed as preexistence. So my front and back door/window sensors were listed as preexistence because they are GE equipment, the hall motion sensor was also listed as preexistence because it is GE. I signed the contract because I did not know their codes. I assumed that all the equipment would be Honeywell, an reasonable assumption because it was advertised to be all Honeywell. They were able to tied the door/window sensors and the motion detector to the panel. The fire/heat alarm was not compatible and was not listed any where on the contract. It was just there to appear as though I had a good security system. I have never heard it go off. I am not sure it works. AMP Security ethics is questionable and needs to be addressed by the BBB. I had to buy two more new door/windows sensors. These were Honeywell’s this time, which I should have gotten the first initial time of installation of my system to cover more windows. I was hoping to connect the smoke/heat sensor to the panel and paid to have it connected, however, the tech was not able to do it. Again, my security system is not complete.
AMP Security is not worthy of a good rating and has questionable ethics in that they have baited and switched equipment at the customers expense.
I wonder how many customers have GE equipment when they should have gotten Honeywell equipment and you signed the contract.

I will never use AMP again. Their sales representative misleads you thinking this is free. I was told you could cancel anytime which was wrong. In order to cancel you have to pay $1200. Just a warning do not let them enter or sign, their representatives are LIARS.

I had tried to install AT&T security system but I had a detached garage and studio and their sysem would not function outside the perimeter of the house. AMP/Gardian with Honeywell hardware was the only system that wou work with two external sources.

Guardian is the monitoring system who said they used them for the install on my neighbors across the street, made it really confusing to understand who AMP is and what I was buying.

I have a sensor that goes off by itself. When I called salesman to complain he said it wouldn’t trip the alarm anyway… WTF? Why did he have tech program a 2 minute delay on it and why did I get a call from Guardian saying my alarm went off? Then when I called for service AMP told me 3 weeks they could be out and just bypass faulty sensor… They gave me a date and never showed up. When I called they gave me a new date/time… Run people run!!!

I chose not to do it within the three day grace period. Had to fight them for almost a month to get my money back. Then today I get an invoice for $400.00 stating that one of the pieces returned was scratched up and had a hole in it. Those pieces left my house in the same shape they came in. Yes, the company is just as much of a scam artist as the sales reps.

lies lies and lies, single mom can’t afford it, paperwork shown to me at sale was not the same as the contract they have you sign which you don’t know its a contract (I was told it was to just sign for the installation), now I am stuck paying 50/mo that I can’t afford help, is there any recourse out there to get this resolved?

Helluva sales pitch, Free Free Free, Prefect house for advertising. Blah blah blah. Then two month later the sales rep told us that after only two payments the crap equipment was already paid for…yeah lesson learned. Not sure who is more pissed off but it’s going to either cost me $1,200 to get out of this contract early or $3,300 to stay in it for the 60 months…what a scam.
3 door monitors and a display. Unplugged it to test, got one phone call a day from an automated call system to tell me my battery is low and I should plug the thing back in. STAY AWAY!!!!

To AMP manager – tell me how to get out of this unethical contract. My wife & I are living on social security. I had to quit working to take care of her. We were told that the equipment is free and that monitoring was less than $10/week. I was unable to read any contract as I was being told that I was only signing a form on the rep’s phone that permitted the installer come to my home. I never saw any printed contract. After the fact, I received an email with two minuscule attachments that could not be opened. I since discovered that I am paying over $55 per month for 5 years. I received the emails after the 3-day grace period for escaping door-to-door traps like this.

Shawn, I have a sensor that keeps going off when door is not opened… Called and was told 3 weeks before someone could come out. Salesman said “It doesn’t matter if it faults as it won’t trip the alarm anyway”. Then I armed system and got call saying the door was open… These people are a joke! I’ve got an alarm system I can’t use!

Not only that BUT YOU CANT GET THROUGH TO AMP!!!
Their phone line is always busy. You push buttons forever and sit in hold for hours. Literally hours! If you leave your number the time they give you to return a call is off by a few hours. It usually takes me days to connect when I have an issue. I have not had a working front doorbell since I bought this FREE system. My thermostat is never working properly and it’s set to the program to be in an auto temp so it should be fine. At 74 setting the AC us blasting out 71 degrees freezing me. Then it won’t run at all when it’s 75 in the house. It’s supposed to have a target range of 72-74 so it shouldn’t even be running at those temps.
I too was sold a cheap off market water sensor for $160 and Amazon sells it for $45. In fact so many of the parts they dumped in me are nothing but junk. They are NOT Honeywell or GE. They are China crap I can find on Amazon at 75% less. I really don’t understand how I was taken so badly. No paperwork, nothing is working, no one to reach bit supposedly there’s this huge contract I’m locked into? Given this company knows what these salesman are doing, and what the parts are or aren’t, and that they are making themselves unreachable, I don’t know how these contracts can be enforceable. How can AMP hold their heads up and flat out steal from people who trusted them for security? This is a LOT of money. We just want to be treated fairly. I’ve even disputed with Greensky and I’m not hearing back.
