The Who, What, When, Where and Why of Link Interactive Home Security
Stumbled upon Link Interactive and wondering if they are the right choice as your home security provider? They are widely unknown except throughout Costco where they sell their DIY home alarm system. Link Home is a great company and often go unnoticed against big company’s in home security. They have monitoring services nationwide, which is nice if the times comes you need to move.

A look into the good and the bad of Link Interactive home security system:
Pros
- A+ BBB rating
- Uses Alarm.com’s technology
- Free smartphone control
- Low priced home automation
- 30 day money back guarantee
- 95% rated it as ‘easy to install’
- Crash and smash technology
- Z – Wave supported
- 1 yr warranty on equipment
- Free Quotation
Cons
- Self-install (but good too cause you save $99 on install)
- Old vibe to company
- No amazing deals or promotions
- Not Applicable to someone who is not tech savvy
- Not advised for renters or anyone who does not want long-term commitments
- Their website design, see screenshot below. It just doesn’t look or feel as professional as Frontpoint’s and others.
This company is essentially just like Protect America and Frontpoint (our 1st and 3rd rated). All 3 are self-install and the equipment gets shipped to you activated.
With the good and the bad out of the way, let’s get into more details about their prices, security system and history.
What’s this going to cost?
Very affordable and a low monthly rate. Other than Protect America, they have the best all-around price.
Installation – Free. Easy peel-and-stick technology where you put the door sensors on yourself. If you are not comfortable doing this (they can assist you over the phone) then we suggest using ADT.
Activation – Free! This is a standard hidden cost with most companies. You don’t have to worry about getting nickel and dimed with Link Interactive.
Packages:

Here is a comparison chart of how their prices stack up to other companies. It may be a little bit of a stretch but our research and testing shows it is true advertising. (Note: that the below chart is an old version of the package)

Even with the low rates they have they give you great equipment.
Typically paying less a month gives you a worse security system. Link Interactive impressed us by giving a standard touchscreen 2gig panel with every package with choices of adding:
- Indoor/outdoor/doorbell cameras
- Lighting controls
- Smart Thermostats (energy savings)
- Garage door controls
- Smart door locks
- Disaster sensors
- IQ Panel 2 (touchscreen)
- IQ Remote Tablet
- Motion Sensor
They offer an impressive list of equipment and the most you pay per month is $34 compared to Vivint who would charge $74+ for the energy packages.

Link Interactive has been hit and miss with me. I had them in my first home that I ended up selling to my younger brother and relocating to a new home I had built. I took the service with me of course but I have had a lot of issue since moving. I feel like if you are going to go with Link Interactive, make sure you plan on staying put.
Aaron says
If you go with Link Interactive, just pay for the installation. I can’t tell you the mess I made for myself. I ended up spending $350 in damages and on equipment I self-bought that I didn’t need! I ended up needing them to come out and do it anyways. So $450 gone like that. And I call myself a DIY man… Just pay for it.
Jack says
Good tip. I was considering doing it myself but I may just bite the bullet and pay for the installation.

I didn’t bother with this company because of the website. It looks like one of those credit card fisher sites. They really need to update that! I ended up going with ADT because I got a discount as well, something else they don’t seem to have. Aww well. I am happy. I would have liked to see what their prices are but it is a little too late now.

You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover! I was with Vivint for nearly 3 years and had nothing but issues from overcharges to faulty equipment. I hope they have improved since than for your sake. I have been with Link Interactive for a little over 6 months and have nothing but good things to say about the company.
Kyle Boom says
I’m a website designer and just checked out their website right now. It isn’t outdated at all, in my opinion. It’s clean and sleek. I would give them a chance as they have a A+ BBB rating.
Murray says
The smash or crash technology Link Interactive offers at no additional cost coupled with its full advanced home automation features at just an extra $5 were the reason opted for the Alarm provider. Nice review!
Nathan says
Same here! I remember a friend was talking to me about all the features that Link Interactive had and I know I needed to make the switch. I had been with ADT for many years but they just didn’t have the things I needed for the price I wanted.
Adrian D says
My experience with Link Interactive has been great. Apart from saving more on their monitoring fee. the level of automation i get on their service beats a lot of the competition. There is no reason not to recommend.
Donnie says
Yeah, the unprofessional site is a bit of a turn off… It’s almost enough offset the fact that I’ll be saving $99.
I mean, if the website is unprofessional, doesn’t that reflect poorly on their services?
Then again, I may be reading too much into it
Alarm Reviews says
Hey Donnie, Link Home just did an overhaul on their website and it looks great now! They have primarily gone after marketing in the stores and ‘offline’ world but they are a great company through and through so don’t read too much into it ;).
Beth says
Installation was super easy. I’m not a technical type person but I figured it out. This is a what you are is what you get sort of company. They rely on there system to sell it not promotions that sucker you in. My service has been excellent and the prices can’t be beat.
Rita B says
I quite agree with you Beth, the price of Link Interactive make it a good option for consideration. I recently had their system installed and it has not given me any cause for complain.
Oliver says
$99 isn’t that much to me. I mean I don’t want to install myself, I would rather pay someone else to do it. Gives them more work to do too. I had my Link Interactive system installed myself and loved the service.
