Safe Touch Security Review 2026: Florida-Only, 36-Month Contracts, and Alarm.com at a Markup — 3 DIY Systems That Cost Less

Safe Touch Security Review 2026: Florida Alarm Company — Plans, Contracts & Honest Verdict

Safe Touch Security has been selling alarm systems in Florida since 1994. They use DSC panels with the Alarm.com platform — solid equipment that’s unfortunately locked behind 36-month contracts, professional installation fees, and regional availability limited to Florida and parts of the Southeast.

In 2026, with contract-free DIY systems offering the same (or better) monitoring for a fraction of the 3-year cost, is Safe Touch still worth considering? Here’s our honest breakdown.

Safe Touch at a Glance

FeatureDetails

PlatformAlarm.com (app, smart home, video)

Our Rating2.5/5 — decent equipment, bad business model

The Alarm.com Advantage (and Why It Doesn’t Justify Safe Touch)

Alarm.com is genuinely excellent — it’s the platform behind most professional security systems. The app is rated 4.5+ stars, video analytics are best-in-class, and smart home integration is deep.

But here’s the catch: you can get Alarm.com through dozens of providers, many without 36-month contracts. Safe Touch is just one dealer reselling the same platform. You’re not paying for unique technology — you’re paying for their sales team, installation crew, and profit margin.

The Problems with Safe Touch

ProblemDetailsWhat Modern DIY Systems Offer Instead
36-month contractLocked in for 3 years with early termination fees (typically 75-100% of remaining balance)Abode: No contract, cancel anytime
Florida-only coverageIf you move out of their service area, you’re stuck paying or eating the ETFDIY systems work anywhere you move — take them with you
Professional install required$99-299+ installation fee, scheduled appointment, holes in wallsDIY setup in 30 minutes, peel-and-stick sensors, no damage
No BBB accreditationNot accredited despite 30 years in business — raises questions about complaint resolutionAbode: A+ BBB rated
Dealer markup on equipmentDSC panels and Alarm.com cameras sold at 2-3x retail through dealer pricingBuy equipment directly at retail pricing
Door-to-door salesKnown for door-to-door sales tactics in Florida neighborhoodsResearch and buy online at your own pace
Equipment ownership unclearSome contracts include “free” equipment that must be returned or paid for if you cancelYou own your equipment outright

Safe Touch Pricing vs. Modern DIY Systems

3-Year Cost Comparison

ProviderEquipmentMonthlyContract3-Year Total
Safe Touch (estimated)$99-299 install$35-55/mo36 months$1,359-$2,279
Abode$199-$459$0-20/moNone$199-$1,179
Ring$199-$329$4-20/moNone$343-$1,049
SimpliSafe$299-$509$0-28/moNone$299-$1,517

The math is clear: Even at Safe Touch’s lowest estimated rate ($35/mo + $99 install), you’re spending $1,359 over 3 years — locked into a contract. Abode with professional monitoring ($199 equipment + $20/mo) costs $919 total with no contract and better smart home integration.

Florida-Specific Considerations

If you’re in Florida, your security needs are unique. Here’s what matters:

Florida FactorWhy It MattersWhat You Need
Hurricane season (Jun-Nov)Power outages, cellular towers down, floodingCellular backup with battery (24+ hours), water leak sensors
High humidityCorrodes outdoor equipment fasterIP65+ rated outdoor cameras, UV-resistant sensors
Package theft (high rate)Florida ranks top 5 nationally for porch piracyVideo doorbell with package detection
Snowbird/seasonal residentsHomes empty for months at a timeGeofencing with auto-arm, remote camera access
High renter rateMany Floridians rent apartments/condosRenter-friendly wireless systems, no drilling
Insurance discountsFlorida insurers offer 5-20% discounts for monitored systemsAny UL-listed monitored system qualifies — doesn’t have to be Safe Touch

Key point: Every feature Safe Touch offers for Florida (cellular backup, water sensors, monitored fire/CO) is also available from contract-free systems. You don’t need a local installer to protect against hurricanes.

When Safe Touch Might Make Sense

To be fair, there are a few narrow scenarios where Safe Touch could work:

  • You truly want professional installation and don’t want to set up anything yourself
  • You need commercial security — Safe Touch’s commercial offerings with access control and commercial fire systems are their strength
  • You have an existing DSC panel and want local monitoring takeover (though Alarm Relay does this for $10/mo without a contract)

How to Cancel Safe Touch

If you’re already locked into a Safe Touch contract:

SituationWhat to Do
Within first 3 daysFlorida’s 3-day cancellation law (FTC Cooling-Off Rule) — cancel in writing via certified mail
Contract expiring soonSend written cancellation 30-60 days before renewal to avoid auto-renewal
Moving out of service areaNegotiate — some providers waive ETF for relocation. Get it in writing
Mid-contractCalculate ETF vs. remaining payments. Sometimes paying the ETF is cheaper than staying
Dissatisfied with serviceDocument issues, file BBB complaint, negotiate reduced ETF

Better Alternatives for Florida Residents

SystemWhy It’s Better for FloridaPrice
Abode ⭐ Top PickHomeKit integration, no contract, cellular backup, water sensors, geofencing auto-arm for snowbirds, take it when you move$199 + $0-20/mo
RingNeighbors app for Florida community alerts, excellent outdoor cameras, affordable monitoring$199 + $4-20/mo
SimpliSafeLive Guard video verification (police prioritize verified alarms), easy hurricane prep with battery backup$299 + $0-28/mo

Our Verdict: 2.5/5

Safe Touch Security isn’t a scam — they’ve been in business 30 years and use legitimate equipment (DSC + Alarm.com). But their business model is stuck in 2010. 36-month contracts, required professional installation, regional limitations, and dealer-markup pricing put them at a serious disadvantage against modern DIY systems.

The equipment is fine. The platform (Alarm.com) is excellent. But you’re paying a premium for someone else to stick sensors on your wall — sensors you could install yourself in 30 minutes. And you’re locked in for 3 years while contract-free alternatives offer the same monitoring quality.

Bottom line: Unless you specifically need commercial security in Florida or absolutely refuse to install anything yourself, Abode or Ring will give you better value, more flexibility, and no contract headaches.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Safe Touch Security a good company?

Safe Touch uses quality equipment (DSC panels, Alarm.com platform) and has been in business since 1994 — they’re legitimate. However, their 36-month contracts, professional-install-only model, and lack of BBB accreditation put them behind modern DIY competitors on value. The monitoring itself is solid; the business terms are the problem.

How much does Safe Touch cost per month?

Safe Touch monitoring typically ranges from $35-55/month depending on the package. Installation fees run $99-299+. Over a 36-month contract, total cost ranges from approximately $1,359 to $2,279. By comparison, Abode costs $199-919 over the same period with no contract.

Can I cancel Safe Touch early?

Yes, but expect an early termination fee (ETF) — typically 75-100% of remaining monthly payments. If you have 24 months left at $40/month, the ETF could be $720-960. Read our cancellation guide for strategies to reduce or avoid ETFs.

Does Safe Touch work outside Florida?

Safe Touch primarily operates in Florida with limited coverage in some Southeast markets. If you move outside their service area, you may still be responsible for the remainder of your contract. This is one of the biggest advantages of national DIY systems — they work anywhere.

Is Safe Touch better than ADT?

Safe Touch uses Alarm.com (better app than ADT’s legacy platform) and may have lower monthly rates. But both require contracts and professional installation. If you’re comparing contract-based providers, Safe Touch’s Alarm.com advantage is real. But both lose to contract-free DIY systems on overall value. See our ADT review for details.

What happens to my Safe Touch system during a hurricane?

Safe Touch systems with cellular backup will continue monitoring even during power outages (battery lasts 24+ hours typically). However, if cellular towers are damaged, monitoring may be interrupted. This is the same limitation for any security system during severe storms. Having water leak sensors is critical in Florida for flood detection.

Don’t bother buying. Much better systems on the market for much less money. Their warranty is good until they decide to change the terms and not tell you. I’ve had multiple panels replaced under the warranty, now the panel is not covered. Costs $350! A newer and more updated alarm costs less!

My parents have been wanting a security system and someone recommended Safe Touch to them so I looked in to it. Maybe it was the person I spoke with on the phone or something but she seemed to have no idea what I was asking. I asked to talk to someone else several times and then the call got disconnected 3 times. I am not sure how they stay in business if they can’t even speak to possible new customers. I am going to try again tomorrow.
